MEDIA STUDY WITH LIFE FM

A group of over 55's completed a media course over 10 weeks at 93.1 life fm recently. We attended the classes at the Tory Top library in Ballyphehane Cork City and the studio work at the studio in Togher .The group blended very well and learned a lot from each other. Terri Kruschke was our teacher and an excellant teacher she was too keeping us all in line and reminding us by e mail not to forget our home work!
We learned about production planning music scripting interviewing ( not as easy as it sounds), running order which had to be timed to the last second. We divided into two teams to make two half hour programmes. We decided to have as our subject "Promoting good health in older people" and "Attitudes to older people"
We allocated tasks to each member and decided who we could interview. We worked very hard over the 10 weeks and ended with more material than needed of course so then we had the task with Terri and her team of editing. We ended up with two programmes of 45 mins each.

They will air on 93.1 life fm on 29th and 30th June at 12.10 pm.and will be repeated on Sat 2nd July at 3 and 4 pm. You can get it online if unable to pick up transmission.

Fourteen members completed the course.

MARIGOLD SERIES

The Marigold series was a great success  again this year. All stands were filled by our loyal patrons. There was a huge crowd at the Garden show. This year there were more vintage cars than before and they looked gorgeous in the shining sun. There must have been plenty of elbow grease the night before!
There were a lot more food stalls also as well as the usual stands. There was a lot more entertainment for children also. And the flowers and permanent gardens were fabulous.
Our own Active Retirement stand was very busy with enquiries and for the raffle.
Our President Mai Quaid was there of course also Kay Murphy( Board member) from Shannon.
