Regional AGM

Dont forget Regional AGM in Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Wednesday next 25th . All are welcome.
margaret PRO
A very enjoyable and sucessful meeting was held in Killarney. Among points  drawn up was  that we should look for an increase in the old age pension as we have not had an increase for many years in spite of the cost of living rising all the time. Some one else commented on why we should all bear the brunt of the increase in cost of wine because of the few who over indulge. Maureen Kavanagh looked for ideas to increase funding.
John Noel informed us that the Health and Wellness festival will be held in Mallow this year in conjunction with the Home and Garden show on 5th, 6th and 7th June at the Racecourse. The Show will be opened this year by Anne Doyle former newsreader in RTE.
Officers for the coming year are :

christmas lunch

Mallow ARA celebrated their Christmas  lunch this year at Springfort Hall Country House Hotel.
Special guest on the day was Anne O Brien Regional Developement Officer. We were delighted to see Anne as she could not make it on our 20th Anniversary in September.
After a mulled wine reception and a delicious lunch served up by the very capable staff of Springfort Hall under the supervision of Eileen and Paul we had some lovely music with Billy and John. We stepped it out with the Siege of Ennis and the slosh( not very good) according to John Noel.
Anyway we had a very enjoyable day.

christmas at griffins garden centre

On 3rd Dec some members from Mallow ARA visited Griffins Garden Centre having previously arranged a demonstration and lunch. We had requested table centre, candle and wreath for the grave. Margaret and her team came up trumps with fantastic arrangements and tips and idea for those who prefer to do their own arrangements. They were particularly impressed with candles worked by battery which can be set to turn on and off automatically and lanterns which can be worked by remote control. This a fantastic idea for safety and security especially for the elderly.

After a delicious lunch we came home laden down with arrangements  and the makings for other custom made arrangements. Everybody was well impressed and happy with their day out.

Rene Collins bought some items and with some holly out of her garden she made a wonderful centrepiece for the christmas table. Well done Rene!
