Mallow visits Mount Mellery Lismore and Dungarven July 2018

On 19th July mallow ARA visited Mount Mellery where we were welcomed by Fr Denis O Hanlon from Mourneabbey near Mallow.First we had tea/coffee after our journey and delicious scones made that morning by Fr Denis! Then we saw a video clip and visited the gift shop where there was a fabulous display of goods. At midday we visited the chapel where Fr Denis spoke to us about life in Mellery and answered questions. Then we had prayers and music with the seven monks now resident in Mellery Finally Fr gave us his blessing before we departed.
Next we visited the Mellery Grotto said a decade of the rosary and drank the fresh spring water.
then we drove to Dungarvan where we had lunch at the various restaurants along the waterfront. before a conducted tour of Dungarven castle . Very impressive but would need a lot of refurbishment.
We spent some retail therapy time in the shops before heading for Lismore and Ballyrafter House Hotel where we got a great welcome and a delicious. It is a lovely old world hotel so peaceful there with geraniums of every hue in the conservatory!
We got home about 9.30 pm. A long day but very enjoyable . All very well organised by Maureen.
