Donoughmore Day Trip

Donoughmore ARA had a fantastic day trip on Saturday last.Four people from Mallow myself included joined this trip. We had an early start, I left my house at 7.30 am as the bus was leaving Donoughmore at 8.15. Immediately the bus left Noreen asked what we would what we would like for breakfast and on arrival at the  Ballyvourney the breakfast was put in front of us. the cafe we were using was called the Cupain Tae, a lovely freash modern establishment with kind and effecient staff and lots of lovely food.
We were on the road again for 10am. On arrival at Ross Castle in Killarney we were taken out in a boat for an hour and entertained by the boatman with tales of the Lower Lake and jokes. The lake was very serene and we saw some deer in the distance but not the eagles this time.
We stopped at Ballyseede Garden centre at lunchtime where we had light refreshments and some retail therapy. In the afternoon we headed for Listowel to the Seanchai by prior arrangement. We were met by Angelina there and boy could she talk for Ireland! she was very entertaining acting singing reciting poetry and playing the Bodhrain. This museum honours 5 local Writers, John B Keane, Brendan Kenneally,  Brian McMahon, Maurice Walsh and George Fitzmaurice. there was a room dedicated to each person with memorabilia and a bust as well as furniture in each room.
After a drink inJjohn B Keanes pub we went on to the River Island hotel in Castleisland for dinner. A lovely meal as usual and then music byJohn Noel and dancing. many thanks to Monica Noreen and Margaret for all their hard work and for inviting us to share their lovely day Some photos to remember the day.
