Mallow Spring break to Sligo

Mallow ARA spent their break in Sligo this year on 28th April to 1st May. We spent the 3 nights in the Yeats County hotel in Rosses Point. We had been invited to visit the Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne Co Leitrim to take part in their promotional Video on 29th . At the weekend there was a change of plan so the DVD had to be made on Tuesday 28th. We decided to leave early  and make for Glenfarne with only one stop for breakfast and short toilet stop. We arrived in Glenfarne at lunch time to be met by the welcoming committee with cameras rolling. On entering the hall we were served with refreshments while some of the local people demonstrated the Foxtrot and the Tango. Then we danced to lovely music and learned new dances The Anniversary Waltz and The Texas Waltz. We viewed the many memorabilia of Showbands of past times and were shown a DVD all about the Rainbow Ballroom as it is called from the early days in the 30's when people came there on foot or by bike to the present day where it is taking on a new life. This DVD will be shown around the world and will probably be on TV also.
After an enjoyable afternoon of dancing we visited Glencar waterfall which is truly beautiful before heading to our hotel in Rosses point for a rest before dinner. The meals were really delicious each day in our hotel, the staff were very helpful, even one lady who left her cane in her car was given one to keep. The rooms were very comfortable and the entertainment each night was very lively. We met some lovely people from Laois , Offaly Dublin and Newry. On our 2nd day we visited Lissadell house , home of Constance Gore-Booth later to be Countess Markovich and Dromcliffe where WBYeats is buried in the shadow of Ben Bulbin.
Next day we headed for Mullachmore. We saw the estate owned by the Mountbatton family and their castle Classibawn where Charles and Camilla will stay later this month. We drove along the headland towards Mullaghmore . It was truly beautiful with the sun shining, the blue sky reflected in the water. we visited the harbour and stopped for a break before heading for Donegal town for a little shopping and coffee. We then headed for Biddy O Barnes Pub in the Bl;uestack mountains where we had a lovely lunch and a drink compliments of Tom Brouder the coach owner. We went back to our hotel for Massage, Seaweed bath, Pedicure , a swim in the pool or a rest before dinner.
On the last day we we stopped at Knock on our journey home to get some Masses said for those who could not come and later stopped at the west County in Ennis for our last meal, as Joe said dinner will be late tonight. and Joe of course is our Guide and Driver. Thanks to Joe we had a fabulous holiday. He made all the arrangements ,booked ahead etc and looked after us very well indeed even bottles of cold water from the fridge on board and Irish Roses, music songs and comedy to while away the journey.
Thanks very much Joe, we will travel with you again.
